  • Situated in historic Victorian Village, OhioHealth Rehabilitation Hospital opened August 1, 2013. Boasting 44 inpatient beds, it was established as a joint venture between OhioHealth and Select Medical to better serve the inpatient rehabilitation needs of OhioHealth patients and residents of central Ohio. Prior to this time, OhioHealth had an 18-bed inpatient acute rehab unit at Grant Medical Center, which later transitioned to a 15-bed inpatient acute rehab unit at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Realizing the increasing need for a post-acute continuum and a higher demand for inpatient rehabilitation beds, OhioHealth reached out to Select Medical for their extensive network of medical rehabilitation hospitals.

Select Medical co-owns and operates a specialized network of more than 25 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals throughout the country. Most notable is Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey, which is revered as the number two leading inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the country and provided rehabilitation to actor and philanthropist, Christopher Reeves. Other notable partnerships within the medical rehabilitation hospital division are Penn State Health, Baylor Scott & White, St. Louis Sisters of Mercy (SSM), UCLA / Cedars-Sinai, Cleveland Clinic, TriHealth, HonorHealth and Banner Health.

In 2016, OhioHealth Rehabilitation Hospital expanded its operations and services offering by adding an additional 30 beds to accommodate its Traumatic Brain Injury program. Today, OhioHealth Rehabilitation Hospital is the largest CARF accredited free-standing inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Ohio.
